Years ago, I managed search campaigns for a tax software client. The volume of queries for informational keywords such as “tax advice” and “tax info” were off the charts, but we could never justify buying ads on this traffic because it was considered too far from the conversion point.
hey were valuable potential customers, but it was costly to provide an information service to the public. Even today, I hear this conundrum voiced among marketers of all kinds of products.
But there’s one frequently overlooked opportunity to drive brand education and informational engagements in search results: video!
Every day, millions of searchers ask Google and YouTube questions. Some of the most popular questions include “how to tie a tie,” “how to kiss,” and “how to set up a printer.” Since the advent of universal search results, Google often places videos on the first page of organic results. Brands now have the opportunity to begin a participation pathway with them by providing helpful content to searchers.

Recently, I came across a fantastic article entitled, Why Turkeys Don’t Tweet by Barry Feldman.
In celebration of Thanksgiving, Barry impersonated a turkey giving all kinds of silly reasons why it is not active on Twitter! I was so blown away by Barry’s idea that I decided to build on it.
Coincidentally, a sheep-related occasion took place last month! (The” Adha” feast is a yearly Islamic tradition where sheep are slaughtered and given to the poor.)
With all my sympathy to turkeys, sheep also deserve their own share of lame excuses to rebel against Twitter! Being a self-proclaimed Twitter fanatic, I will disguise as an over-biased Twitter attorney to defend the poor Twitter bird! Roll up your sleeves as the confrontation heats up!

I was getting ready for work the other day when something caught my eye: almost every product in my bathroom featured the word “protection.” Toothpaste (protection from cavities!). Deodorant (protection from odor!). Detangler (heat styling protection!). Mouthwash (all day protection!). If we spend that much effort “protecting” ourselves from hidden dangers in the bathroom – why don’t we do the same for our businesses? You can – with video!

Video marketing has always been a fabulous way to engage consumers, but the price of television advertising has made it something that many small business owners can not afford. The Internet has brought video marketing down to a price that anyone can afford: Free.
It is now possible to make video advertisements for a fraction of the cost of television advertising. When it comes to competing with larger corporations, small businesses struggle to compete in the marketing and advertising arena.
While a mom-and-pop store may not have a $1 million advertising budget, a great equalizer has recently entered the scene: the viral video.
While it’s true that not every video will reach the “viral” superstardom of YouTube favorites like Blendtec’s iPhone “Will it Blend?” clip, which has garnered more than 3 million hits, video can help you market your business in a unique way without spending a lot of money.
Nathaneal Mohr, a small business marketing coach, said while many small businesses readily acknowledge that video marketing is something they should be trying out, most are confused on how to begin.
“With confusion, people usually stay still,” said Mohr. “They’re probably a little intimidated and have so much on their plate already that they don’t want to risk the time and money spent in an area they don’t understand.”
